From Alice Springs, drive north out of town on the Stuart Highway (national highway 87) for 2.4km. Turn right onto Herbert Heritage Drive and continue down this road for about 1.5km. The Telegraph Station will be on your left.
Start at the bike path on the west side of the Todd River, at the intersection of Wills and South terraces. Pedal north along the bike path on the riverbank, crossing Schwarz Crescent, and continue along the fire road to the Telegraph Station, about 3km in total.
At the fork about halfway along, avoid the stairs (to your left) by turning right and descending to the riverbed. Walk or ride your bike on the sand for a few metres before rejoining the main track up on the bank.
