  • Description

For the past 4 years we have run The Mountains To Beach; a race event lauded by all who have taken part.

We are now running a small group Tour version; 350km of superb riding from the Roof of Australia to the surf beaches of the South coast of NSW.

Over 5 days we will ride from the highest mountains in Australia, across snowgum lined plains, down along rainforest lined creeks and out to finish with your wheels in the sand and surf.

Snaking singletrack, ‘wind through the helmet’ downhills, challenging uphills and some of the most varied scenery you could want.

    The Detail

Participants will be picked up in Canberra on the morning of Sunday 3rd for the 3 hour drive to the Snowy Mountains and the luxurious Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa. Once bikes are built up we will have a ride around the resort trails – 15km of superb singletrack originally built for the MTB event. The week has begun!

Monday 4th – We will head to Thredbo and take a chairlift up to the slopes of Mt Kosciuszko, Australia’s highest mountain. Then it’s a great route down to the valley and on via singletrack and trails back down the valley to Lake Crackenback.

Tuesday 5th – A stunning 80km ride through Kosciuszko NP from Perisher to Buckenderra on Lake Eucumbene. The terrain will vary from rocky slopes to open grassy plains where the brumbies roam. A number of creek and river crossings will keep you cool as well. The course then diverts onto quiet country roads and zippy bush tracks all the way into the shores of the huge Lake Eucumbene and our host for the night, Buckenderra Resort, a large caravan park on 1500 acres of bush.

Wednesday 6th – Before breakkie we’ll enjoy a ride on some of the bush and lakeside trails at Buckenderra. After brekkie we’ll head via a mix of quiet roads and farm trails into the town of Cooma some 40km away where we’ll stay for the night. For those needing a bit more riding there is the opportunity for some hidden singletrack in the hills close to town

Thursday 7th – It’s a big day out – but with lots of downhill as we leave the mountains behind and weave a superb MTB route down to ice cold milkshakes and/or beer on the coastal plains at Cobargo. The computer will tick over 100km today unless you take the sag wagon!

Friday 8th – From Cobargo we’ll cut through shady forest trails to the pretty coastal town of Tathra. Before a salty swim and lunch, we’ll finish off with a feast of singletrack. The afternoon can be spent beachside or enjoying more of the ever growing, ever flowing network built around the town. A final dinner and tales of the week.

Saturday 9th – Time for another swim or even possibly a final ride for the early risers. Then we pack up and head back to Canberra at the end of what will no doubt be a memorable week for all.
