The trails that put Townsville on the mountain bike map. Douglas features a huge 30km network of hand and machine built trails, with something for everyone and catering to all skill levels.

The trails are predominantly rocky, and there’s plenty of technical riding too. Sturdy tyres are a must or you’ll be fixing flats all day long. With the trails reasonably exposed, it can get hot in summer, so ride early or late.

The main trail head is easy to find. At the main roundabout at the entrance of the Hospital and James Cook University, turn right and continue along Angus Smith Drive. You’ll see the trailhead and carpark on your left, opposite Freshwater Drive.
