Dirt Art, the Australian mountain bike trail construction, consulting, maintenance and management company will soon begin work on a new project; the Hollybank MTB Park in Tasmania.
The Hollybank MTB Park, will consist of a 20km, $800k trail development 20min north east of Launceston, TAS. The trail network includes 8.5km of blue and green graded trail loops, and a 10km point-to-point all mountain descent that can also be climbed.
Notably 5km of the loop trails will be surfaced, providing Launceston’s first all-weather, year-round mountain bike facility. The descent is shuttle-accessed with the existing Treetop Adventures operation looking into providing a paid shuttle service. The descent/point-to-point trail will include a wide range of rock slab and constructed trail features, and offers a vertical drop of over 300m.
Dirt Art will also be designing and building a large skills area and trail plus a massive pump track. The new developments compliment an existing 1.5km downhill trail, which will be upgraded as part of the project; this trail is also shuttle accessible.
Work on the Tasmanian government-funded project is due to start in early 2014, and will be finished in July 2014. The project has a strong jobs focus, and as such we will be looking to fill a range of new positions, including two new trainees.
It is also planned that trails will be opened in a rolling fashion, as they are completed.
