Destination overview
White sand beaches, world-class surfing, theme parks, and nightlife, the Gold Coast has it all! Where the green meets the gold, the mountain bike trails are up in them thar hills that form the backdrop to the coast.
Where the green meets the gold
Home of the 2018 Commonwealth Games course, Nerang National Park is arguably the beating heart of cycling on the coast, with a criterium track, velodrome and well over 60km of singletrack. Just 12km from the glitz and glam of Surfers Paradise, you can ride the same trails where Annie Last and Sam Gaze won Gold Medals, or head out towards the back of the network for a prehistoric feeling adventure on the Lost World loop. Come with your climbing legs because Nerang has plenty of ascending on tap, but the rewards are descents ranging from fast and surfy to rough, narrow, and janky.
The Gold Coast isn’t just for XC and trail riding; bring your full face and big bike for a day of shuttles at Boomerang Farm or NV Gravity Park. If you have the family in tow, take them to Glossy Black Reserve in Reedy Creek, or Hinze Dam for a day out on the trails.
Sun, sand and surf
We love a bit of multi-sporting here at Flow, and with Snapper Rocks, Kirra, the Currumbin Alley and Burleigh not far from the trails, grab a board and hang ten — you might even run into Mick Fanning or Steph Gilmore in the surf.
The Gold Coast is a surprisingly big city, and when you fly into Coolangatta, you will be about 30min from the trails at Nerang. There are a few outfits that do transfers, however, if you want to check out the beach, grab a bit to eat in Palm Beach, hit a brewery in Biggera Waters, and ride the roller coasters a Dream World, a rental car is a must.
