To get her frothing for the summer riding season, Roz has just received a whole new wardrobe of mountain bike apparel courtesy of Californian brand 100%. Here we take a look at a selection of fresh threads from the 100% Airmatic range including the riding pants, shorts, jersey, gloves and socks.
100% Airmatic Womens Jersey
- Sizes: S, M, L & XL
- Colours: Slate Blue (Shown), Black & Black/Lavender
- Price $69.99 AUD
Featuring a female-specific cut and a good amount of length, the 100% Airmatic Womens Jersey combines a lightweight and breathable technical fabric with laidback style. In fact, we’d be more inclined to call it a tech tee since the soft fabric feels so comfortable on the skin and the design means it doesn’t look out of place off the bike. As well as digging the fit, we also really like the internal sunglasses wipe that’s hidden on the lower part of the waist.
100% Airmatic Womens Shorts
- Sizes: S, M, L & XL
- Colours: Slate Blue (Shown), Black & Lavender
- Price: $129.99 AUD
To go with the jersey we’ve got a pair of 100% Airmatic Womens Shorts. Made from mid-weight, 4-way stretch fabric, these offer a comfortable and form-fitting cut that minimises flapping in the breeze. There’s an additional panel of stretchy mesh integrated into the rear of the shorts, which contributes to the overall flexibility to make these well suited for long pedally days on the trail bike.
You won’t find a padded liner with the 100% Airmatic shorts, which is fine with us since the ones that are typically included with other baggy shorts on the market tend to be pretty cheap and disappointing. Roz prefers riding in bib shorts anyway, and these slip right over the top.
Three zippered pockets adorn the 100% Airmatic shorts, including a specific ‘stabilisation pocket’ on the outside of the right thigh. We’ve found this works well for a phone, while the smaller two pockets on the left thigh are useful for cash, cards, keys and other small items.
100% Airmatic Womens Pants
- Sizes: S, M, L & XL
- Colours: Charcoal & Black (Shown)
- Price: $179.99 AUD
For cooler and splashier days on the bike, Roz has got the latest 100% Airmatic Womens Pants to ride in. These are made from the same mid-weight, 4-way stretch fabric as the shorts, which uses a blend of polyester and spandex that aims to strike a balance between durability and comfort. That’s combined with specifically articulated panels around the knees to allow for uninterrupted pedalling, while tapered legs means they’re not overly baggy.
Overall comfort is excellent thanks to an adjustable waistband that uses a zippered fly and a metal hook for dialling in the tension. Furthermore, the inside of the waistband is lined with a silicone print that helps to keep the pants securely in place while moving around the bike.
You’ll find the same array of zippered pockets on the 100% Airmatic pants as you will on the shorts, so again you’ve got that dedicated phone pocket on the outside of the right thigh that has proven to be quite stable.
100% Airmatic Gloves
- Sizes: S, M, L, XL & XXL
- Colours: Lots!
- Price: $49.99 AUD
100% has a huge array of options in its glove lineup that includes everything from half-finger gloves for road cycling, through to the excellent Brisker that has become our go-to option for winter riding.
The 100% Airmatic Gloves sit somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. They’re not the thinnest gloves out there, though the dual-layer palm is said to boost durability and comfort, and it’s also perforated to increase ventilation. 100% then employs a thick woven stretch fabric to cover the back of the hands, while hidden mesh gussets between the fingers provide additional flexibility while helping to wick away sweat.
There are plenty of other nice details including a stretchy neoprene cuff, TPR protection over the fingers and knuckles, and tech threads woven into the fingertips to allow you to use a touchscreen without having to remove your gloves.
100% Flow Performance Socks
- Sizes: S/M & L/XL
- Colours: Black, Black/Grey, White, Black/Yellow & Black/Pink
- Price: $24.99 AUD
To go with her 100% Airmatic ensemble, Roz has got a pair of the Flow Performance socks. These are made from a lightweight knit mesh for breathability, and they feature ribbed arch support and flat stitch toes for comfort, along with reinforced heels and toes for durability. They’re nice and thin, though if you prefer a thicker sock it’d be worth checking out the 100% Rhythm Merino socks that are ideally suited to cooler conditions.
