It’d be safe to say that those who have been riding for a number of years have been caught out at least once on the trail without a well-equipped toolkit, resulting in a lengthy walk home. Granite Stash RT Ratchet Toolkit
Designed to be hidden away within the steerer tube, the Stash RT Ratchet Toolkit is a well-equipped option for those who find the humble multi-tool frustrating to use.
Installing the CNC machined housing is a simple affair, however does require removal of the fork’s star-nut which may need a little brutality. In the kit comes three lengths of bolts to suit various steerer lengths, with the base cap being compatible with tapered steerer tubes. Once installed, the toolkit within the housing remains firmly in place, with no notable rattling or noises on the trail. To access the toolkit the top-cap rotates 180°, and the tools pop-out thanks to a small spring at the base of the housing.
Each of the 1/4″ hex bits are held within the holster via magnets quite firmly, however will eject into a jumbled mess if you drop the assembly. The ratchet itself is nicely made with 50 points of engagement, and is 100mm in length allowing for a reasonable amount of torque to be applied to the bolts if required.
On the scales, the Stash RT weighs in at 163g for the whole assembly. In comparison, the OneUp EDC Pump & V2 Tool weighs in at 166g and includes a hand pump, however carries a slimmer selection of tools, is far more fiddly to use and has more visually obtrusive mounting options.
The top-cap of the Stash RT is replaceable with the brand’s Scope Computer Mounts purchased separately from the toolkit, and is compatible with Wahoo, Garmin and Bryton computers.

The Granite Quiver Tool Roll is a classy take on the classic tool roll design.
