Fresh Produce | Radioactive Pink Muc-Off Tubeless Sealant

Price: $12.99 - $239.99AUD (80ml - 5L Sizes) Available From: Sheppard Cycles

Recently the FlowHQ team has been testing a variety of tyres, from Pirelli Scorpion to Schwalbe’s new Albert tyre with the ‘Radial’ casing. This involves a lot of time fitting and removing tyres, plus plenty of tubeless sealant to keep them rolling. The team at Sheppard’s Cycles, importer and distributor of Muc-Off in Australia, sent across some Muc-Off Tubeless Sealant for us to check out and put to the test.

Muc-Off  Tubeless Sealant

Muc-Off’s Mountain Bike Tubeless Sealant is an ammonia-free and non-corrosive latex-based formula designed for the rigours of Downhill and Enduro. The brand claims the sealant is suitable for pressures ranging from 15-80psi, and temperatures from -20°C to +50°C. Personally, we haven’t tested at either end of that temperature range however…

Muc-Off states that its sealant will seal punctures up to 6mm wide and will remain effective inside the tyre for up to six months. Unique to the Mountain Bike sealant is the UV Detection Dye blended within the formula, that is said to highlight any punctures missed during your ride.

Muc-Off offers the Mountain Bike Sealant in five different sizes, 80ml, 140ml, 500ml, 1L, and a workshop size 5L bottle. All sizes bar the 5L can be inserted directly into the tyre via the valve from the sachet or bottle. For 29in Downhill/Enduro tyres Muc-Off recommends 105-140ml, making the 80ml sachet a little light on. However, it was a handy size to throw in the toolbox for emergency top-ups at the trailhead, and the backside of the sachet has measurement indicators to reference.

The handy injection tube included with the 500ml and 1L bottles made it a mess-free affair.

Similar to the Mountain Bike Sealant, Muc-Off’s Road/Gravel Sealant is an ammonia-free non-toxic formula designed for high-pressure use. Rated for up to 110psi, the Road/Gravel formula has biodegradable mineral flakes and natural fibre sealant particles. Muc-Off claims these flakes and fibres help to plug holes faster, with a claimed size up to 7mm. Compared to the Mountain Bike Sealant, the Road/Gravel sealant has a much lower viscosity aiding distribution throughout the tyre.

Muc-Off says both the Road/Gravel and Mountain Bike sealant are compatible with CO2. However they do recommend the CO2 is applied through the valve at the top of the tyre/wheel. This way, the CO2 is not injected directly into the sealant liquid at the bottom.

Specially formulated for road and gravel use, including biodegradable mineral flakes and natural fibre sealant particles.
