First Look | Kenny Racing Women’s MTB Riding Gear

Price: $19.95 AUD (socks) - $79.95 AUD (jersey) - $159.95 AUD (shorts) Available From: Kenny Racing

Along with some of the highlights from the men’s apparel range, we’ve recently been trying out some of the latest women’s riding gear from Kenny Racing. Sold in Australia through KWT Imports, Kenny Racing is a French moto brand that has a surprisingly comprehensive range of riding gear for mountain bikers, which includes women’s specific jerseys and baggy shorts.

KENNY RACING CHARGER WOMEN’S JERSEY

Roz has been riding in the Kenny Racing Charger jersey, shown here in two different colourways. We particularly like the pastel-coloured version with its fern print and vintage logo. The jersey is only offered with long sleeves, which she prefers over a short sleeve due to the extra protection it offers against the thorny thistles that line much of her local trails.

Made from a lightweight polyester material, the Charger jersey employs a stretchy mesh fabric panel for the back to provide maximum ventilation in warmer riding conditions. It comes in five sizes from Extra Small through to Large.

The Charger Women’s shorts offer a snug and tailored fit, and we love the split hem at the base of each thigh that offers more flexibility while pedalling.

KENNY RACING CHARGER WOMEN’S SHORTS

Roz has been trying out the matching Charger Women’s short, which is also offered in five sizes.

The outer short is made from a lightweight stretch fabric, and it features a split hem on the outside of each thigh that provides an extra degree of flexibility while pedalling. They’re otherwise a fairly streamlined and low-frills pair of shorts. You get a single zippered pocket that will just fit an iPhone XR, a single closure button, and adjustable Velcro tabs for dialling in the fit around your waist.

The included liner features a high quality padded chamois, which Roz has been really impressed with. As we found with the men’s version however, the elastic waist of the liner short sits far too high, and requires folding over to prevent it from digging into your belly. The silicone gripper on the inside of the liner’s waist is also quite aggressive on the skin.

Those issues aside, Roz has enjoyed using the Kenny Racing gear, and we look forward to seeing more styles and colour options being offered in the women’s MTB apparel range.

The Charger is a comfortable baggy short, but the fit of the liner leaves a bit to be desired.

Kenny Racing might not yet be a household name in Australia, but we’re digging the style from the French brand.
