OneUp Components launched in 2013, focusing on developing an expander cog to boost the range of 10-speed cassettes. Since then, the Squamish-based company has rapidly expanded its offerings, now including chainguides, pedals, dropper posts, both aluminium and carbon handlebars, along with its clever EDC pump and tool combination. While both the EDC pump and tool kits have been available for quite some time, they stand as one of the most compact and well-considered options on the market.
OneUp EDC Pump
- Price | $100 AUD
- Weight | 166g (including side-mount)
- Volume | 70cc or 100cc
- Mounting | Downtube side mount or top tube inline mount (extra $32 AUD)
- Valve Compatibility | Presta only
OneUp offers the EDC Pump in two sizes, the more compact 70cc or the larger 100cc, constructed from a CNC’d 6061-T6 aluminium housing. The pump head has a push-on design that works only with Presta valves, and unscrewing the pump head from the body reveals the integrated CO2 inflator for rapid inflation. Included with the pump is a bottle cage side-mount, allowing compact storage on the downtube. Available separately is an inline mount for those who have mounting points on the underside of their frame’s top tube.
OneUp EDC V2 Tool
- Price | $110 AUD
- Weight | 119g (Including plug kit)
- Mounting | EDC Pump or Steerer Tube (Extra mount required, $65 AUD)
- Tools | 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8mm, T25 Torx, Flat Head Screwdriver, Tyre Lever, Chain Breaker, 0,1,2,3 Spoke Keys, Presta Valve Core Tool, Spare Rotor Bolt
- Extras | EDC Plug Kit ($40 AUD)
Alongside the EDC Pump is the EDC V2 Tool, which as you can guess, is on its second iteration of the design. This feature-packed piece of kit includes all of the essential tools and knick-knacks to keep you rolling out in the wilderness, in an extremely compact package. From tyre leavers and chain breakers to every hex key size you’re likely to need, there isn’t much that was left out when the OneUp team was designing the EDC V2 Tool. Constructed of an injection moulded plastic, the housing is well-made and sufficiently sturdy, with seamless integration with the EDC Pump. Locking the multi-tool into the housing with the integrated tyre lever requires a little finesse, and was sometimes tricky when wearing gloves. Nevertheless, once locked in everything in the assembly is sturdy and rattle-free.
Flow’s Verdict
While a pump and multi-tool may not be the most exciting piece of kit, the attention to detail and integration here is nothing short of impressive. The finishing touches such as the knurling on the pump head and CNC machined construction ooze refinement and quality, as you’d expect given the $210 AUD asking price for the pump and tool combo. The cost is easier to swallow if you have more than one bike, as the purchase of an additional frame mount is all you need to move the pump around as needed. If you’re heading out into the wilderness or hate getting caught ill-prepared, the EDC Pump and V2 Tool is a fantastic addition on the bike to keep you rolling.
