Fresh Produce | Sendy Gear Saver knee and elbow pads

Price: $79.9 AUD (Saver Knee Pad) $64.95 (Saver Elbow Pad) Available From: Sendy Gear

Hailing from the Snowy Mountains, Sendy is a kids-specific mountain bike brand, aiming to offer mini-shredders gear designed specifically for them, rather than XXXXXS adult gear.

Beyond just mountain bike clothing, Sendy has also delved into protection, offering elbow and knee pads to keep your kiddo’s joints free from gravel rash when they take a digger.

Our mini-testers might have taken the assignment a little bit too seriously when we tasked them test Sendy’s knee and elbow pads.

Sendy Saver Kids MTB Knee Pad

The hardest part about knee pads on kids is getting them to actually wear them, so it’s key they’re comfortable, not too hot and easy to get on and off. So far, the Sendy Saver has been an easy sell for our crop of mini-testers. Based around a soft on-the-skin fabric, they utilise a flexible protective insert that moulds around the rider’s knee.

Combined with the durable Kevlar face fabric, they have shrugged off a few good stacks without too many tears, or rips or scuffs.

Based around a flexible foam insert, the Sendy pads offer ample protection for the stacks kids this size will take.

The upper cuff sees a silicon gripper, which, paired with the lower strap, keeps the pads from sliding down as they pedal.

They’re easy enough for our testers to put on and take off themselves, and have a good bit of stretch built in to prevent pinching or binding.

If you’re so inclined to match your mini, Sendy does make them in adult sizes too.

Priced at $79.95 AUD, they’re a bit less than youth options from other brands like Fox and TLD, and a bit more than the hard-capped skate pads other kids at the pump track may have.

The Saver elbow pads utilise a lycra sleeve, silicon grippers and dual elastic straps to keep the pad in the right spot.

Sendy Saver Kids MTB Elbow Pad

Sendy’s Elbow pads follow a similar lightweight design but swap in stretch mesh and lycra to form the sleeve of the pad to aid in breathability. According to our pint-sized testers, they were comfortable in the heat, however, with the extra elasticity and tightness of the materials, they may need some help to get them over their hands and in the right position.

The upper and lower cuffs have silicon backing and elastic straps to cement them into position.

The Saver elbow pads are a little tighter fitting than the knee pads, and your kiddo might need a hand getting them on and in the right position.

On the business end, the Saver elbow pads see 5mm impact foam inserts, that are covered in Kevlar face fabric for added durability when sliding across gravely singletrack or the pump track. Flow’s junior test team has done their damnedest to scrape the bark off them, but so far, have been stymied in their efforts. Plus we can actually get them to wear the pads — so win, win.

They’re available in three sizes, and Sendy provides a detailed size chart. Priced at $64.95 AUD, just like the knee pads, they’re a little cheaper than your offerings from Fox and TLD, and Sendy also makes them big adult kid sizes too.
