Meet our team
Flow Mountain Bike was built on a shared passion for riding and storytelling. What started as a small group of enthusiasts has grown into a dedicated team of writers, photographers, and industry experts, all driven by a love for mountain biking.
The Flow Team

Mick Ross
Founder & DirectorAs the founder of Flow Mountain Bike, Mick has dedicated his professional career to the cycling community. His passion for mountain biking runs deep, having grown up captivated by two wheels and a sense of adventure. With experience across downhill, cross-country, enduro, and marathon racing, Mick’s broad background has shaped his understanding of the sport—not just as a rider, but as a storyteller, content creator, and industry leader.
His entry into the cycling industry started in a bike shop, which eventually led him to Bike Addiction in Sydney’s Northern Beaches during a mountain biking boom. Here, immersed in one of Australia’s most vibrant MTB communities, Mick balanced racing and work while refining his mechanical skills, creative instincts, and—on occasion—his firework-handling abilities. From this dynamic environment, he developed an eye for iconic riding destinations, a passion that would guide his career in cycling media.
A chance opportunity to test bikes for AMB Magazine opened the door to a full-time editorial career. Working alongside high-school friend Chris Southwood, Mick co-led AMB for six years, travelling to world-class riding locations and developing a deeper appreciation for the global MTB scene. This period cemented his love for media and storytelling, inspiring him to establish Flow Mountain Bike in 2012—a platform built on independent journalism, real-world testing, and a commitment to sharing the best of mountain biking.
A tragic collector of retro bikes and rare parts, Mick’s love for MTB history complements his forward-thinking approach to the sport. Under his leadership, Flow has grown into more than just a media outlet—it plays a positive role in shaping the cycling landscape in Australia and beyond. Through honest reviews, in-depth features, and firsthand industry insights, Mick ensures Flow remains a trusted, independent voice that both inspires riders and holds brands to high standards.
Mick takes the responsibility of editorial integrity seriously, ensuring that Flow’s content is driven by real experiences, not marketing spin. His goal is simple: to educate, entertain, and influence the future of mountain biking in a meaningful way.
And if you haven’t yet heard his story about Loïc Bruni wishing him a happy birthday moments after winning the Cairns World Cup, don’t worry—he’ll gladly tell you the tale. Again.

Wil Barrett
Tech & News EditorWidely regarded as one of the best bike reviewers in the world, Wil leads Flow’s tech and review team with unparalleled expertise and care. His meticulous attention to detail goes beyond normal human means, setting him apart as a master of his craft. Whether he’s tweaking setups, testing products, or diving into the technical intricacies of suspension and geometry, he knows his stuff.
A true conduit between product and reader, Wil’s ability to articulate complex ideas-whether in writing or in front of his camera-is invaluable. His reviews are as insightful as they are engaging, helping our audience make informed decisions about the bikes and gear they love. With years of editorial experience, strong industry connections, and a background in retail, Wil brings a lot to Flow Mountain Bike.
Wil’s work sets the benchmark for technical reviews in mountain biking. Quite simply, he is the best in the business.

Colin Levitch
News and Content EditorColin is one of the most experienced and respected journalists on the planet. Before joining us, he was a Staff Writer at BikeRadar and contributed to major publications like Cyclingnews, AMB, Cyclist AU, Bicycling Australia, Spoke, Outside, and Cycling Weekly. A former roadie who ‘saw the light’ and transitioned to mountain biking, Colin brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to everything he writes.
His attention to detail and ability to tackle complex topics, from land access issues to trail advocacy, have made him an authoritative voice in the MTB community. Colin’s understanding of the Australian destination scene is unparalleled-he knows every council plan, trail project, and landowner development before the shovel hits the dirt. He’s also our go-to guy for bold moves, like calling politicians to get to the heart of contentious issues.
On a lighter note, Colin will passionately argue that the rear brake belongs on the right and is unafraid to die on that hill! Whether it’s road, gravel, or full-on mountain biking, Colin’s dedication and professionalism elevate the quality of Flow’s editorial work.

Jono Wade
General ManagerJono grew up near Forrest in Victoria and started mountain biking in 2006 as training for motocross. Initially, a hardtail loyalist, his time riding cross-country and dirt jumps took a dramatic turn during a trip to Whistler in 2013. Inspired by the trails, Jono returned home, sold his hardtails, and bought a Santa Cruz Butcher. He began racing enduro and even returned to Whistler in 2014 to compete in the Enduro World Series. After a series of shoulder injuries, Jono retired from racing in 2016 and shifted his focus to digital marketing. Between 2011 and 2021, he gained extensive experience in the field before joining Flow, where he combines his marketing expertise with his deep love for riding.
Nicknamed “Jetpack Jono” for his energetic riding style and his furious approach to any jump on any trail, he’s the driving force behind some of our most exciting destination shoots, website development, industry partnerships and meaningful brand campaigns. Lately, Jono has been dividing his time between gravel and enduro bikes, riding some of his favourite Victorian trails at Silvan and Lake Mountain.
His ability to plan, produce, and execute incredible projects makes him an invaluable part of the Flow team.

Tom Wilson
Content Syndication & Social Media ManagerTom’s journey has taken him from the South Coast of New South Wales to the North Shore of Vancouver, but no matter where he lives, his contributions to Flow are always top-notch. A creative content producer, talented rider, and all-around friendly guy, Tom manages the scheduling and syndication of our content across social media, Flowmail newsletters, and all our channels. Whether he’s filming a GoPro One Lap recap or testing some of the most exciting bikes on The North Shore, Tom represents Flow with style and professionalism. He’s also our steeziest rider on the trail, damn him!

Nick Martin
Tech EditorNick brings a wealth of technical expertise and a deep love for mountain biking to Flow. As a Mechanical Engineer with over 17 years of riding experience, Nick is a purebred mountain biker through and through. His journey began with his first dirt jump bike in 2007, and he quickly dove into the scene, racing his first downhill event at Long Gully in 2008-the same year as that infamous crash video. A true adventurer, Nick has pushed his limits, including one memorable helicopter trip to the hospital after a crash at Mount Buller during the VDHS series.
Nick’s passion for bikes extends well beyond the trails. During his university years, he worked as a bike mechanic for over six years, honing his skills and developing a razor-sharp eye for detail. To this day, he’s incredibly picky about maintenance-any creak or noise on a ride will have him cutting it short to fix the issue. His engineering background combined with his perfectionist approach makes Nick an exceptional product tester who can cut through marketing fluff to provide honest, insightful reviews.
Having dabbled in road cycling for accessibility when living in the city, Nick’s heart has always belonged to the trails. Some of his favourite places to ride include Maydena (TAS, Australia), Squamish (BC, Canada), and Wairoa Gorge (Nelson, New Zealand). Whether testing a bike or hitting his favourite trails, Nick’s technical prowess and analytical mindset make him a crucial part of Flow’s testing team.
On the trail and in the workshop, Nick’s quirks set him apart. He’ll passionately argue that the top AXS shifter button should shift up the cassette and the bottom button should shift down-and he’ll defend this setup to the death. His precision and dedication to the sport, combined with his mechanical expertise, make him an irreplaceable asset to Flow Mountain Bike.
