For those of you who read the above headline and thought “didn’t Norco just introduce a new Sight VLT earlier this year?“, there’s no need to put down that hazy IIPA because you’re not hallucinating. Back in April, the Canadian brand rolled out the 2024 Sight VLT and Range VLT, which featured a high pivot suspension design and the full-powered Bosch CX motor.
Barely five months later, and we now have confirmation that there’ll be another new Sight VLT coming out for 2025. But why the heck is that?
Well it’s because Bosch has just unveiled its new 5th generation CX motor. Featuring a whole host of improvements along with two new battery options, you can expect to see numerous bike brands building the CX Gen 5 motor into their e-MTBs for 2025. That includes Norco, which is choosing to ride the hype wave with the launch of its new Sight VLT CX.

An overview of the 2025 Norco Sight VLT CX
As with the current version, the Norco Sight VLT CX is an all-mountain e-MTB that features a mixed wheel setup, a 160mm travel fork and 150mm of rear travel. It incorporates a virtual high pivot suspension design with the chain routing over an idler pulley that’s built into the main pivot.
Whereas the shock on the current Sight VLT mounts to a brace between the top and down tube, the new Sight VLT CX positions it vertically in front of the seat tube. This leads to a lighter and cleaner-looking frame that bears a closer resemblance to the Fluid VLT we recently reviewed.

There’s a new Bosch CX Gen 5 motor
Of course the other big point of difference for the Norco Sight VLT CX is the integration of the new Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor.
It doesn’t look a whole lot different to the Gen 4 motor, though it is marginally lighter and features an updated gearbox that’s said to eliminate any rattling noise on the descents. New sensors are claimed to offer improved responsiveness and better detection of what the rider and terrain are doing. Otherwise the Gen 5 motor produces the same 85Nm of torque and 600W of peak power.
There’s quite a bit more going on with the new system, which you can read about in our first look article on the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor.

And a lighter 800Wh battery
Norco has chosen to integrate new PowerTube 800 battery into the downtube of the Sight VLT CX , which as far as we’re aware isn’t designed to be easily removable like the one in the current Sight VLT. Doing so has allowed for the sleeker frame design, which along with the new motor and battery has resulted in a significant weight reduction.
According to Norco the new Sight VLT CX is nearly 20% lighter. Given the current Sight VLT C1 weighs 25.2kg, we can deduce that the new version is likely to be around 20.5kg. For a full-powered e-MTB with an 800Wh battery, that’s bloody impressive!
