It was barely a year ago when the current Orbea Wild was launched, though already we have a new version for 2025. It hasn’t come entirely out of the blue, as we’ve encountered a flurry of new electric mountain bike releases this week following the official unveiling of the Bosch Performance Line CX Gen 5 motor. Spanish brand Orbea is the latest to jump in on the action, with the 2025 Wild showcasing the latest Bosch drive system that boasts less weight, quieter performance and improved response on the trail. It isn’t just about the motor though, with Orbea incorporating a suite of updates to the Wild chassis that looks to address most of the criticisms we had with the current version.

An overview of the 2025 Orbea Wild
While it might not look like it from first glance, the Orbea Wild has received a new frame for 2025. As with the previous version it’s manufactured in both carbon (OMR) and alloy (Hydro) versions.
The new Wild now comes standard with a 170mm travel fork, and rear travel has increased from 160 to 170mm. The kinematics have also been updated with a more progressive leverage rate that offers a higher initial starting rate for improved small-bump compliance and grip. Orbea pairs this with a custom-tuned Fox Float X2 or Float X shock, depending on the model.
Another big update is the option of a mullet wheel setup. Orbea achieves this with a different rocker link that preserves the geometry when swapping between a 29in and 27.5in rear wheel. Customers will have the option of picking between the dual 29in wheels or a mullet configuration when purchasing the new Wild, though we understand that the links will be available aftermarket for riders who wish to change wheelsize down the track. Unfortunately the new mullet link isn’t compatible with the old Wild frame.

New Bosch motor & battery options
Of course the 5th generation Bosch Performance Line CX motor is a key talking point for the 2025 Orbea Wild. The new drive unit features a slightly smaller form factor and a 100g weight reduction compared to the Gen 4 version, and it also moves to the two-bolt mounting style of the lightweight SX motor.
An updated gearbox is claimed to eliminate the annoying rattle that has plagued the CX motor for the past five years, while improved sensors are said to make the Gen 5 drive unit even more responsive and better at applying power on tricky uphill sections.

Also new is the PowerTube 600 battery. This features higher density cells and a claimed weight of just 3kg, which gives it a 1.4kg advantage over the existing PowerTube 725 battery.
The premium Wild M-LTD will come standard with the PowerTube 600 battery, while all other models will get the existing 725Wh option as standard. However, riders will be able to select their preferred battery option at the point of purchase.
For those who want more capacity again, the Wild is compatible with the optional Bosch PowerMore 250 range extender that you can purchase along with the bike for $879 AUD.

Orbea Wild geometry & size chart
While the Orbea Wild frame is all-new, the geometry is mostly carried over from the previous version.
The main point of difference is the slightly slacker 63.5° head angle, and the BB sits a smidge higher off the ground due to the increase in travel. Otherwise you’ll find identical reach measurements across the four frame sizes, all of which feature the same 448mm rear centre length.
As you’ll see in the size chart below, there’s now a secondary set of geometry figures for the mullet option.

Orbea Wild price & specs
There will be six models offered in the 2025 Orbea Wild lineup with prices kicking off at $12,499 AUD for the entry-level H20 build.
Regardless of price or frame material, all Wild models will come standard with the new Bosch CX Gen 5 motor. Riders will be able to select between the 600Wh and 725Wh battery at the point of purchase, and there are further customisation options including wheelsize, tyre and cockpit spec, and even custom paint via Orbea’s MyO program.
Also new is the shorter travel Wild ST, which comes with 150/150mm of travel, 29in wheels and the alloy frame. Those models won’t be a stock item in Australia, though they will be available to special order.
The rest of the Wild lineup will begin to arrive in Australia later this month, which means this will be one of the first e-MTBs to be available with the new Bosch CX motor.
