The DT Swiss 350 would arguably be one of the most popular hubs on the market, thanks to its simple construction and reliability. They are easy to service, however, replacing the drive-side bearing requires a specific tool to remove the threaded drive ring. This specialised tool, usually combined with a whole lot of force and a sprinkling of blood, sweat, and tears to access said bearing, was a rather inconvenient flaw in what was otherwise a very easily serviceable hub.
Enter the Ratchet DEG system, which was first implemented on the DT Swiss 240 hubs back in 2024. This sees a very similar star ratchet-style mechanism within the freehub, albeit with a larger diameter ratchet ring that now clears the drive side bearing, meaning it no longer needs to be removed.
For 2025, the workhorse DT Swiss 350 hub is being updated to include the Ratchet DEG freehub, resolving a major gripe we had with its predecessor.

DT Swiss 350 DEG Rear Hub
From the outside, the latest 350 hub doesn’t stray far from its predecessor, but the big difference is on the inside with the change to the Ratchet DEG freehub. This sees an increase in engagement points, increasing to 72t from the previous 36t or 54t options. It’s a long way off the high-engagement hubs manufactured by the likes of Chris King or Industry Nine, although that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We’ve gotten on just fine with the 10° engagement of the 36t ratchet, and doubling the engagement to 72t is sure to deliver a nice buzz without being too obnoxious.
The bearings on the new 350 DEG are larger than what you’ll find in the 240 DEG hubs, and because of this, there are some minor differences in the components within the freehub between the two. As the DEG freehubs are designed to accommodate the larger diameter drive rings and star ratchets, these are not backward compatible with older generation 350 hubs.
Bigger bearings generally mean improved durability; we’ve got a pair of hubs incoming for long-term testing, so stay tuned for our thoughts once we’ve had some time with the 350 DEG’s.

DT Swiss XRC, XMC & EXC Carbon Rims
Alongside the launch of the 350 DEG hubs are three new carbon rims. DT Swiss claims these new hoops are manufactured using a new compression process that reduces the chance of imperfections in the carbon fibre layup, improving strength and reliability.
Traditionally, carbon fibre rims are constructed in several parts and bonded together to form a complete rim, which DT Swiss claims can cause irregularities when the pieces are joined. The brand’s new construction method promises a rim with uninterrupted outer fibers and a more uniform structure with fewer imperfections. The result? The brand claims a highly impact-resistant rim thanks to these long strands of carbon.
As part of this DT Swiss has developed a new way to apply the outer layer of carbon fibre to the rim, allowing the surface to come out of the mold with a smooth, finished appearance. This is said to create a structurally efficient layup that is free of air pockets and excess resin, improving both reliability and appearance. The method also contributes to a lighter overall weight by eliminating the need for extra finishing steps.
Following on from the brand’s extensive lineup of aluminium rims, the all-new carbon rims follow the same general naming convention, albeit with the letter ‘C’ in the prefix denoting the carbon construction. The complete lineup consists of the XRC-310, XMC-320 and EXC-330, which are designed for XC, All-mountain, and Enduro, respectively. All three rims share the same 30mm internal width, however the external width increases as it steps up the range, accommodating a thicker hookless bead for increased durability.
The new range of carbon rims are backed up by a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects for the original owner of the rims. Also extended to the original owner is what DT Swiss is calling its ‘Fair Share’ program, a Crash Replacement policy in which a damaged rim is able to be replaced at a reduced cost of $300 AUD per rim.
