Germany, the home country of their Conti tyres, offered the two bike-buds some top-notch riding locations in Hamburg, Goslar and Berlin. They also got to switch their two wheels for four wheels and spin around the Contidrom test track facility in ultra-high performance cars as well as their old camper van.
“Road trips are one of the best things you can do with friends! Martin and I have talked about doing one for years and I’m stoked it finally worked out! We started in Hamburg, what I consider one of the best cities for street in the world and even though it rained the whole day we still had a good laugh. Ragging a fancy car around the track was fun but rallying the old van around the Contidrom was even better. The highlight of the trip for me though was watching Martin riding Mellow Park in Berlin. He just makes it look way too easy! All in all, we had such an awesome time and will need to plan another trip soon!” comments the man of the hour, Danny MacAskill himself.
Martin Söderström reflects back on the week with Danny: “This year is my 10-year anniversary as a professional freestyle mountain bike rider. I am pretty sure there was no better way to celebrate that than to go on a road trip through Germany with one of the nicest and most creative street riders in the world! Looking back at the trip I am 100% convinced that there is no better way to experience a country than on two and four wheels. My favourite part of the trip was definitely watching the ”Danny Show”. It didn’t matter what time of the day it was, or if it was pouring it down with rain, he still managed to blow my mind at every single street spot we rode. Luckily, we ended the trip with some park riding where I feel more comfortable. I can’t thank Continental enough for making this road trip happen. Definitely, one I will remember for the rest of my life!”

Today Red Bull Media House releases “Danny MacAskill’s Wee Day Out” – the next fascinating and entertaining riding clip from Danny MacAskill. The latest blockbuster clip sees the world-renowned street trials rider take a rare day off and go for a spin on his mountain bike in the glorious Scottish countryside.
Only two weeks after launching his first autobiography, Danny is already adding to his legacy with his next unreal two-wheeled expedition. Unique from anything he’s released before, Danny jumps on his Santa Cruz 5010 CC this time and takes mountain biking to another level.
This time the 30-year-old takes his viewers on a trip through Scotland, whilst being accompanied by the lively tune of “National Express” by “The Divine Comedy”, which will surely put a smile on every viewers face. Thereby he presents his home country as it most probably never has been presented before. Danny transforms natural features of rolling Scottish hills into the ultimate rider’s playground; combining the best of technical trail riding with Danny’s impressive trials skills.
With moments of incredible riding combined with a portion of tongue-in- cheek scenes, the fun-loving clip sees Danny pull off never-seen-before tricks; most of which would normally be assumed impossible on a mountain bike. Unique tricks include – a scrub to barrel roll, a submerged water crossing and hay bale ride.
Danny MacAskill’s Wee Day Out is the latest in an unrivalled portfolio of smash hit clips from MacAskill, such as Epecuén (11 million views), Cascadia (17 million views), Way Back Home (38 million views), The Ridge (44 million views) and Imaginate (58 million views).
Of the new project Danny says, “Although I’m doing very abnormal riding, I set out to make a video that hopefully relates to the normal rider. Every rider has had to ride through a puddle when it’s been a bit unknown how deep the centre of that puddle is, it just so happens that the puddle in my film is 6ft deep. I wanted to do a video on the mountain bike again and give myself creative freedom with this film. It’s meant to be a fun day out on the bike, so I wanted it to be quite light hearted.”
Join Danny MacAskill, Duncan Shaw, and Fabio Wibmer as the Drop and Roll Tour travels to perform at the biggest bike expo in the World, Eurobike, before stopping by Rotterdam on the way home to ride some of its world famous street spots.
Danny MacAskill’s new video project took the trial rider well and truly out of his comfort zone. Swapping his familiar trials bike for a full suspension mountain bike, Danny travelled to the Isle of Skye, the place where he was born and grew up, to ride the epic trail on the Cuillin Ridge.
The rocky terrain, huge cliff drops and unforgiving lines really put Danny’s famous bike handling skills to the limit, but it was well worth the effort to showcase the Isle of Skye’s beautiful landscape.
Riding the Cuillin Ridge also fulfilled a life-long dream of Danny’s and with the help of filmmaker Stu Thompson and his colleague’s at Cut Media we’re all able to share that joy.
Watch as Danny MacAskill brings a forgotten city back to life with his latest street trials film. Following on from 2013’s mind-blowing ‘MacAskill’s Imaginate’, Epecuén is the latest film from Danny MacAskill.
Directed by long time collaborator Dave Sowerby, we’ll see Danny take his riding back to the roots of trials riding, exploring the forgotten town of Epecuén in Argentina, a location that has been submerged for the majority of the past 25 years.
Pablo Novac, Epecuén’s only resident throughout the troubled times, gives a brief history of the location culminating with his thoughts that he ‘…can no longer see what use this place has for us now,’ MacAskill however has other ideas.
Danny MacAskill is renowned for pushing the levels of both his riding and filming with previous releases ‘Way Back Home’ and ‘Imaginate’ accumulating over 50 million views between them; Epecuén is set to raise the bar once again.
